The Historic Museum Collection Plate Famille Rose fine porcelain china is 8.25" in diameter. Henry Francis du Pont brought the beauty of the Winterhur garden inside his home by collecting antique Chinese export porcelain decorated with elegant floral motifs. Popular with collectors today, famille rose enamels were developed in China in the Yongzheng period, (1723-35). The well and rim of the antique bowl are gracefully scattered with stylized flowers painted in shades of purple, blue, yellow and green and varying shades of rose. The last is an opaque enamel color that allowed for subtle pink shading and led, in the 1800s, to the French naming this color range famille rose. This collectible plate would make a wonderful wedding, birthday or housewarming gift.
