The Historic Museum Collection Plate in Tobacco Leaf is an 8.25"" plate made of fine porcelain china. Bold colors and large blossoms are hallmarks of the "Tobacco Leaf" pattern. Found on Chinese exports from the Qing Dynasty, this design was popular in trade with American, European, adn South American markets. Our adaptation actually combines elements of a plate from China, circa 1775, and one from England, manufactured by Chamberlin's Worcester, circa 1800. Both feature not only foilage in bright blues, greens, reds, and yellows, but also delicate floral accents. Although known as "America's Museum", Smithsonian's National Museum of American History, Behring Center, houses many pieces in its collections that represent influences from around the world. This collectible plate would make a wonderful wedding, birthday or housewarming gift.
